Dining Review – Beaches & Cream (Lunch or Dinner)

Jump to:

Where do all the shore kids go after a long day on the beach? To the soda shop of course! Beaches & Cream Soda Shop is the perfect compliment to Beach Club Resort’s Stormalong Bay and the BoardWalk Inn just across the lake.

Stop in once it reopens in winter 2019 for a nostalgic good time with diner favorites and sweet treats that are sure to hit the spot.

At a Glance

  • Name: Beaches & Cream Soda Shop
  • Abbreviation: B&C
  • Opened: November 19, 1990(?)
  • Location: Disney's Beach Club Resort
  • Category: Casual Dining
  • Theme: Boardwalk Diner/Soda Shop
  • Dress Code: Theme park attire
  • Kids will like: All the ice cream!

Visiting B&C is an excuse to visit the incredible Beach Club Resort. The wait staff is almost always on point. Second best ice cream option on Disney World property, and first in presentation and options!

It’s a tight spot that has become very popular. Expect to wait, even with an Advance Dining Reservation. Only a few savory menu items to choose from. It’s also closed for refurbishment until the end of the year.

Beaches & Cream Soda Shop is a pretty simple place, all things considered. And that is just fine for us! This casual dining location is rather small and is tucked in behind the Stormalong Bay pool area between Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts. There are 3 fairly confusing ways to get here:

    1. Enter Yacht Club’s lobby, and veer to the back left past Ale & Compass and toward Yachtsman’s Steakhouse. Head outside and hug the building to your left, past the smoker’s section and the pool bathrooms until you see the hostess stand.
    2. Enter Beach Club’s lobby, and veer back to the back right. Walk all the way around Cape May Cafe and out the doors in front of Ariel’s. Hug the building to the right, just past the entrance of Stormalong Bay.
    3. Approach from the lakeside pathway and follow almost the same directions around Stormalong Bay from #1 or #2.

But once you find it, the fun starts! Maybe the waiting starts first, but I promise the fun starts soon after. Cast Members will do their best to give you an accurate time estimate. However, they will not rush you out while you are seated, and therefore they won’t rush the people seated before you either.

The meals are somewhere between theme park-standard and slightly overpriced. The quality is fine, but you are still paying $16 for a basic Rueben and wedge fries. The menu really shines in the dessert section. Desserts are clearly what Beaches & Cream is known for due to options like the Kitchen Sink.

Lastly, we believe that Beaches & Cream truly shines because of the Cast Members responsible for serving you. Without the impeccable service we received on our last trip I would hesitate to rate B&C higher than a 3/5. Instead, the Cast Members here consistently provided a magical experience. The constant attention they provided our 2.5-year old kept her happy, engaged, and mostly seated for the entire dinner. Special shoutout to Matt and his immediately understanding that the *only* way to eat Mac & Cheese is with a ginormous spoon.

Special Diets

The Veggie Burger and the Grilled Cheese and Tomato Bisque are going to be your best options on the vegetarian side. Otherwise, you are in a diner and ice cream shop so you will need to work with Cast Members on other dietary needs.

Let’s be real. You are probable here because you heard about the Kitchen Sink. If not, let’s get caught up.

Scoops of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, coffee, and mint chocolate chip smothered in every topping we have.

When they bring it to your table they also won’t let you forget that it is covered in an ENTIRE CAN OF WHIPPED CREAM. It is enormous, and for $28.99 it will definitely take 4 people to finish it.

Last Words

We can’t recommend leaving the parks early just to make a dinner reservation at Beaches & Cream. However, if your trip includes the all-important rest day, then Beaches & Cream is one of the best resort options for a casual lunch or dinner.

Make sure your eyes aren’t bigger than your stomach, as the Kitchen Sink can be super tempting no matter how many family and friends you brought with you. Most of all, visit Beaches & Cream knowing you are going to have an amazing time thanks to the intimate service and the sugar-high you will get as you leave.
